From The Editor's Desk - Twenty Fourth Issue, October 2011

Hi! It is once again the AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLER'S DAY today on the 20th October of 2011.

A day when we celebrate our unique profession. We celebrate the efforts of countless controllers through day and nights who work relentlessly and tirelessly to achieve safety, regularity and efficiency in Air Traffic Management.Wherever he or she may work the best efforts are to take you safely and expeditiously through the ever crowding skies, what with complexity of growing Air Traffic every day and complexity of civil aviation.

Today we are on the verge of an over crowded skies with an estimated more than double growth in Air Traffic in the next few decades. To avoid a significant planned capacity in the skies world wide efforts has led to some serious thinkings and the development of the research into next generation Air Traffic Managements-Vision 2025.The concept of FLOW MANAGEMENT has evolved world wide.

In India the efforts are on to map the Indian skies with RADARs,employ Performance Based Navigations for a better and efficient Air Traffic Control and upgrade 38 Airports with world class Air Traffic systems of AIRCON 2100.With continued recruitment drives by Airports Authority of India the shortage of ATCOs are being adressed.

Let us today celebrate our historical role in the hundred years of our existence for the cause of SAFE,ORDERLY AND EXPEDITIOUS flow of AIR TRAFFIC.Let us today renew our mission of service to our users in an aviation industry, which is ever expanding,to provide environmentally friendly best knowledge practices EVERY DAY and EVERY WHERE.
