Do you think Indian ATC is doing enough to reduce RT congestion in the skies ?
FROM THE EDITORS DESK- Forty Seventh Issue, October- 2015

Hi Friends!
October is here again. It is celebrations time. Ten years back, on the 18th of October 2005, was born- being inaugurated during ATC Day celebrations at Jaipur, by the Late Maharaja of Jaipur, H.E. Bhawani Singhji and Executive Director, Air Traffic Management then, Sh. Sri Krishna. Since then ,this little aviation minded e-zine has seen so many issues and flown so many flights with its readers.

Ringing in good news on the Indian Aviation front, Indian carriers experienced a double-digit growth as domestic air traffic jumped 11.5 per cent in October compared to the same month last year, as per the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
Airlines in India "have experienced substantial volatility in traffic and it is likely that the increase is a result of unusually low volumes a year ago rather than growth in October", the latest air traffic analysis of the industry body informed.
The aviation industry watchdog also said the passenger load factor rose 1.4 per cent to 72.1 per cent, while air capacity climbed 9.4 per cent.
The global passenger traffic results for October showed "a moderate acceleration of the robust demand trend of the last few months", as Asia-Pacific carriers continued their "solid performance" with a 7.8 per cent rise in October - "the strongest performance among the three biggest regions", including North America and Europe, the IATA study noted.
October is also special for the Indian Air Navigation Services, Airports Authority of India.Sh. A K Dutta, has taken over the charge of Member (Air Navigation Services) on 1st October 2015 on the Board of Airports Authority of India, after superannuation of Sh.V. Somasundaram on the 30th Sept 2015 .
Prior to his appointment as Member (ANS), he has served in Airports Authority of India in various capacities, as Executive Director (Air Traffic Management), General Manager (Air Traffic Services), Senior Instructor in the Civil Aviation Training College (CATC), Air Traffic Controller in International ATC Centres and Aerodrome In Charge at major airports. He joined AAI in the year of 1985 and has had a very illustrious career in the last 30years in different capacities, before finally joining the AAI Board.
On the 20th October 2015, the Air Traffic Controllers, worldwide ,shall celebrate the International Air Traffic Controllers Day. On this day let us pledge to work hard in the true professional spirit for “ONE SKY, ONE VOICE” ,the theme of IFATCA(International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers’ Association) this year .Let us take this opportunity to uphold and celebrate the true Professional Standards depicted by our Nepalese Air Traffic Controllers in the face of serious adversity during earthquake in Nepal.
Though facing adversity in the form of one earth quake after another, which not only destroyed cities and homes of Controllers on duty at Katmandu International Airport, the Controllers did their best and continued to be on duty to keep the vital ATC lifeline alive and usher in International relief and controlled a very increased number of flights with limited resources. They are truly HEROES of the skies ,who went far beyond the call of duty.
May all of us in whatever position we are and where ever in Aviation, DO our VERY BEST to take AVIATION to the HIGHEST LEVEL it really deserves to be in. Once again , greetings to all, it is celebration times …
